    Default I-Pad 2

Right lads. Got a present of an I-Pad 2 from the brother and need a bit (lot) of help to get to grips with it.

Any help/suggestions welcome in terms of what apps to get (explaining what an app is would also be a help) what you do and don't have to pay for - how it differs to a conventional laptop or PC.

Been messing around with it and it looks fancy and all and the definition is unreal, but just wondering what is the point of it?

    Cheers in advance.

EDIT - Also, where do you get apps and is it the same to just browsing conventionally.

EDIT 2 - Just realised this is the wrong forum!! Apologies Barney and ES

Ive got one too, awesome bit of equipment. Apps you get from the App store, some really good ones are free, some are 69p or more. Depends on what type of app you want mate, there's all sorts. I've got one for the weather, one so I can watch the goals (think its espn app or something), one that you can use to make movies from photos/videos you have called iMovie. I've even got a load of free educational apps for my little boy for when he's older, like counting and learning ABCs, all amazingly interactive.

Stick with it mate, as confusing as it seems now once you get to grips with it you'll realise just how good it is.

Cheers Matt, it is messing my head a bit. Say for instance the newspapers, I'd scroll through most of them and have had a look at the guardian website and put the app on, but it seems it's only a trial then you have to pay yet you can go online on a laptop and get it for free. Why is that? Are all papers subscription? You could run up a nice bill if you were paying for the lot.

Did you have a smart phone first?

If not, and if you don't read, you won't appreciate it early doors.

I was a sceptic, but once I had one, never looked back
