Hi Tom, I know it's the middle of the night over there but just wanted to let you know that Jav might still have a spare pair for today if you want to give him a shout? I was to take an extra pair from him but it fell through...sorry for the late notice..
    Cheers, Finno

    Hi tom,

sorry i didn't get back straight away i've been on an i-phone and didn't even realise i had a message.

I've just got back into full time employment, i'm on the buses in manchester now, but i'm still in training for a good while yet so i don't know what my shifts are week to week so cant commit to anything yet. I've also got a mates stag do (which i've told him i doubt i'll be able to get time off for), his wedding and my summer holiday to book when i get released to my depot from the training school. So i'm trying to limit the amount of days off i have to ask for.

If i do go i wont be able to book till very close to the date though due the the reasons above. I'm hoping my days off fall on that time though as i've really enjoyed the two previous ones you've arranged. I hope all goes well with the planning though and you have no late hiccups.

    all the best

Yes Tom, I saw the reports on the Saturn rings. Whatever next! I see they've been crashing satellites into the moon to look for water now. More chance of finding it than of United spending the Ronaldo money, eh? ;-)

Tom, it gives me no pleasure to be proved correct, but...
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/20...landing-budget

There had been one or two things I'd picked up on in articles I had read over recent months that led me to expect this outcome. Looks like we'll be lucky to see anyone even leave Earth orbit in our lifetime, never mind go to the moon. :-(

Thanks for the link, Tom. Cracking pics. There has been a whole season here on BBC4 celebrating the Apollo 40th, some great stuff. Was at the science museum last week to see a live performance of Brian Eno's "Apollo" with a special edit of the movie "For All Mankind" on the Imax screen. Also went to see Buzz Aldrin doing a talk at the Festival Hall (mainly pushing his new book, but still great to be there).

James May did a programme about astronaut training etc. and went up in the Vomit Comet - does your mate still pilot it?

Am hoping NASA get the go-ahead for the Constellation programme including the proposed moon landings by 2020, but I have a horrible feeling there will be a change of plan to save money...
